Check for an ongoing discount
EZ-SAVE is a recurring income-qualified bill-discount route and can establish eligibility for related programs. LADWP does not require income proof at enrollment but can review eligibility afterward. The current page does not establish one universal percentage reduction; avoid borrowing SCE's CARE percentages.

Is this the right kind of help?
EZ-SAVE belongs on the short list when the recurring LADWP bill is difficult to afford. Treat enrollment as one part of a household plan: check the discount, address any overdue balance separately, then look at the electricity being used. A discount does not settle an existing repayment agreement or authorize someone to make changes to a rented property.
Before starting, put the current bill next to the household information you will use in the application. Confirm who is responsible for the account and which residence the account serves. If utilities are included in rent or the meter serves more than one dwelling, ask LADWP how its account rules apply rather than guessing which person should apply.
Prepare a consistent household application
Use the household-size and income definitions on the official page. The published table is annual gross income; comparing it directly with a monthly take-home paycheck would mix two different measures. Make a note of the period each income figure covers and ask LADWP if a fluctuating or unusual source needs explanation.
The current enrollment rule does not require proof of income up front, but that does not remove the eligibility requirement. Keep your calculation and the records supporting it so that a later verification request can be answered consistently. Complete the administrator's application rather than entering account details in a third-party comment form.
After submission: check the actual bill
Keep the application date, submission confirmation and the contact method you used. Ask when an approved change should appear. When the next bill arrives, compare the rate or discount line with the approval rather than relying only on whether the final total went down; consumption, billing days and old balances can change at the same time.
If the expected discount is missing, have the confirmation and bill ready when contacting LADWP. If the account is past due, discuss payment options while enrollment is being reviewed. Do not assume a pending application postpones a due date.
What to check next
Ask about Lifeline if age or disability may make that a better route. Medical-equipment and physician-certified allowances have their own requirements, while HEIP concerns the efficiency of the home. These routes solve different problems, and any combination must be confirmed for the account.
A useful result is a documented account determination and a clear next action. We have not measured a typical household saving for this guide and do not promise a fixed percentage reduction. Keep the official eligibility page available when sharing this information with a neighbor.
