LADWP announced on October 28, 2026 that its board voted October 27 to suspend residential water and electricity disconnections for nonpayment through the rest of 2026. Safety shutoffs remain possible. A temporary suspension is not debt forgiveness; contact LADWP about the account and repayment options. Official October 28 announcement ↗.
LADWP advertises payment arrangements with no down payment, interest or fees: up to 48 months for discount-program customers, or 24 months for other customers. This gives time to repay; it does not cancel debt. A short payment extension is a separate option.
Request: Call 800-342-5397 or visit an LADWP Customer Service Center. Ask for the total installment amount, due dates, treatment of new charges, and consequences of a missed payment. Extensions may also be requested through My Account.
