Current application status

The CPUC lists DAC-SASH as accepting applications. GRID Alternatives administers the program. Application availability does not establish that a particular home qualifies or that its project has been approved.

The initial eligibility checks

GRID lists four requirements: PG&E, SCE or SDG&E electric service; ownership and occupancy of a single-family primary residence; a qualifying disadvantaged-community location; and household income within CARE or FERA limits. LADWP and Burbank electric accounts do not meet this program’s listed utility requirement.

Check the address before comparing equipment

Use the eligibility map linked by GRID for the actual property. A nearby qualifying neighborhood does not settle whether your parcel qualifies. Ask the administrator which household members and documents belong in your income review instead of guessing from a take-home paycheck.

A practical example

An SCE homeowner with a qualifying address can start an eligibility inquiry. If their friend has a LADWP electric bill, that friend should start with the LADWP guide instead. Neither should take an installer’s statement that a neighborhood qualifies as a substitute for the administrator’s review.

How to start

Follow GRID’s official eligibility page to its application at gridsolar.org, or call 866-921-4696. Keep the application receipt and make a short list of roof concerns, shading and prior electrical work to discuss during the assessment.

Keep your project choices clear

Before agreeing to any separate work, ask what the program includes and what would require your own payment. Request that answer in writing. If your roof needs attention, ask how that affects project timing. Keep unrelated loan or battery offers separate from the assistance application so you can judge each commitment.
